Fart Jokes Never Get Old!
I stumbled upon an Edo-period fart battle scroll—yes, really! Turns out fart jokes have been making people laugh for centuries. Timeless comedy!

I came across something hilarious on Instagram the other day:
an anonymous fart battle picture scroll from the Edo period (1603–1868). Yes, really.
There are lots of images on this website—go take a look!

Before the battle, participants ate a huge amount of taro stew to fuel their farts, and each side used clever (and ridiculous) tactics. They even stored their farts in bags and released them all at once as an attack. It’s pure fantasy… and totally hilarious.

Apparently, farts were a popular comedy theme in the Edo period—not just in scrolls, but also in picture-based riddles and wordplay games. It seems like people back then found fart jokes just as funny as we do now.
There’s something so heartwarming about that, don’t you think?
The fact that even centuries ago, people were making fart illustrations and cracking up over them—it’s a gentle reminder that the essence of humor hasn’t changed much at all. 🌀💨😂
