Chasing Colors and Creativity at The Gallery Café
On a dark, snowy day in Chicago, Katie Lukes’ colorful, playful art at The Gallery Café totally brightened my day.

Yesterday, I visited the gallery café in my neighborhood! As the name suggests, this cafe regularly displays artwork from different artists on its walls and also sells the pieces.
Right now, they’re showcasing work by Katie Lukes, a Chicago-based artist I love, so of course, I had to check it out! I first discovered her artwork a few years ago during a creative challenge on Instagram called 36 Days of Type, where both she and I participated. Ever since then, I’ve been a huge fan of her colorful and playful style—it never fails to put a smile on my face.

Until now, I had only seen her work on Instagram, but seeing her large paintings on actual canvases was such a treat! Once spring arrives, I’m planning to go on a mural hunt around Chicago to find the public artworks she’s created.
How lucky am I to live in the same city as one of my favorite artists?!
