Pinterest, Where My Inner KonMari Says "Let It Be"
I’m a former KonMari Consultant obsessed with tidying—but my 1,000-pin Pinterest board? Total chaos. And somehow, that’s where the magic lives.

The Only Place I Let Chaos Reign
As a former KonMari Consultant, I’m all about tidying up—physically, digitally, emotionally. If a folder is messy, I have to clean it. My instinct is always to categorize, sort, and streamline.
Except for one place: my Pinterest “inspiration” board.
10+ Years of “Just Something I Liked”
I started using Pinterest over a decade ago. At first, I created separate boards for mood boards, design references, illustration ideas… you name it. But over time, laziness (and intuition) won, and I began tossing everything into one catch-all board called “inspiration.”
Now it holds over 1,000 pins. As someone who lives for organization, that number feels unthinkable—but surprisingly, it’s become a treasure trove.
Like Digging Up a Time Capsule
The other day, I found myself scrolling through the chaos of that board, feeling mildly embarrassed—then deeply moved. The pins are grouped unintentionally by era, tied to projects I was working on, artists I was obsessed with, and styles I tried to emulate. It’s a timeline of creative sparks I didn’t even know I was documenting.
Yes, some pins are cringey. But many still speak to me. I realized: my taste has evolved, but the core of what I love hasn’t changed that much. There’s something comforting in that.
Maybe Mess Can Spark Joy Too
In every other area of my life, I organize things so I can grab what I need in a second. But my Pinterest board? It’s exempt.
I don’t want to organize it. If I did, I might miss the surprises—those serendipitous links between unrelated things, the half-forgotten images that suddenly click with today’s ideas.
Sometimes, the most inspiring ideas come from the most chaotic corners.
