The Jelly That Got Away
Since yesterday, I’ve been completely obsessed with drawing jelly. I realized I forgot to take a photo of the sakura agar jelly from the SUGOi Sweets wagashi set I wrote about the other day, so I thought—why not draw it?
But as soon as I started, I hit a wall. No matter how I picked up colors from my reference photos and placed them on the screen, the shine, the wobble, the transparency—none of it came through. The jelly just sat there. Flat. Colorful, but lifeless.
A Sweet Surprise on the Internet
Today, I kept looking for ideas on how to draw jelly and ended up falling into a deep scroll—as any artist would do. While surfing around, I found a post titled “30 Best Jelly Illustration Ideas You Should Check.”

A Lucky Spark
